    Il faut certainement que les scribes inscrivent.

    C’est la fonction que les dieux leur ont assignée,

    Même si elle ne s’assortit de rien d’honorifique

    Et si les foules distraites les ignorent tout à fait.

    

    Ils naviguent sur les grands fleuves des idiomes

    Comme la barque de Ra dans le ciel étoilé.

    

    Ils se tiennent accroupis dans leur orfèvrerie

    Tissant muettement les fils d’or des langages,

    Et ciselant la lumière brute du Verbe
    Afin qu’il prenne chair et habite parmi nous.

    Scribes must certainly keep unscrolling,

    It is their gods’ assigned mission

    Even if it does not bestow honors upon them,

    And as they are totally ignored by the listless crowds.

    

    They navigate the big rivers of idioms

    Like the boat of Ra the starry sky.

     

    They remain crouching in their jewelleries,

    Soundlessly weaving the gold thread of languages,

    And chiseling the raw light of the Word
    For it to become flesh and dwell among us.

    Siamo sicuri che scrivani devono scrivere.

    Questa è la funzione che gli dei hanno assegnato

    Anche se non devi vedere nulla di onorifico

    E se i moltitudini distratti li ignorano completamente.

    

    Transitano sui grandi laghi delle lingue

    Come la barca di Ra nel cielo stellato.

    

    Sono quelli che restano accovacciati nella loro bottega orafa

    Tessendo silenziosamente i fili d'oro delle lingue,

    E scolpendo la luce grezza del Verbo
    In modo che diventa carne e viva tra di noi.
